Technology Lesson Demonstration – Blooket

The lesson that I chose to incorporate is a lesson that I created during student teaching. I was unable to access technology while working with the small group, so this demonstration is a great opportunity to do so. The lesson is on 2D shapes with the objective: By the end of this lesson students will be able to draw or verbally identify a shape based on its description 4 out of 6 times. The lesson guides the students through a series of hands-on experiences to learn about these shapes and how to identify them. The Blooket platform is a great way to incorporate some review into the lesson and grab a quick formative assessment. The students will gain instant feedback as they classify the shapes in the review as well as learn to identify shapes in everyday life. This technology is appropriate for this lesson because it reinforces the concepts discussed throughout the lesson and will finish off the lesson in a fun way.

Blooket is a flexible platform. You can differentiate by lesson sets, difficulty of the game chosen, and the device used to play it. For students who need a touch screen a tablet can be used. For students needing a more simplistic game there are a variety of different games to choose from and you can adjust the difficulty level of the game. For students who need read aloud or more support you can team them up with a peer or an adult. These educational games really do provide great opportunities for students to engage with one another and enjoy the rewarding experience that only gaming technology can bring.

The technology that I reviewed is Blooket. The technology that I used to record the review is Loom.
